Carhartt WIP Clothes & Hats for Men
100 years after Hamilton Carhartt established his labourer outfitters in Detroit, Carhartt Work In Progress (Carhartt WIP) began carefully adapting and modifying the brand’s product identity for a different audience. Since it’s conception by a Swiss couple in 1989, Carhartt WIP has utilised slimmer fits with a streetwear aesthetic to form a tailored line that pivots around functionality and authenticity, introducing Europeans to the utilitarian aesthetic of its parent company and becoming the de-facto uniform of rappers, BMX riders, graffiti artists and skaters who had already begun wearing the mainline in the 1980s. Heavily influenced by the once underground working class and street fashion scenes it was adopted by, Carhartt WIP injects genuine grit into its multiple fashion collaborations while keeping its core offering to a collection of considered staples. Amidst projects with A.P.C., Salomon, Junya Watanabe and more, Carhartt WIP isn’t afraid of being too rough, too young or too street.
