Maison Margiela’s MM6 line champions a distinctly experimental outlook, presenting an unconventional approach and casual codes while offering contemporary silhouettes, thoughtfully construed graphic prints and unexpected youthful references. After graduating from Antwerp’s Academy of Fine Arts and working for Jean Paul Gaultier, Martin Margiela founded his eponymous house in 1988 as a reaction to the hyper-glossy, high-maintenance fashion of the time. Directional yet discrete, his deconstructed, avant-garde tailoring, sculptural garments and ingenious accessories quickly established him as one of the industry’s most important, era-defining designers of the 20th century. Experimental British designer John Galliano took the reins in 2014 and has maintained the brand’s poetic and conceptual vision of couture and luxury.
