EYTYS TOUCHES DOWN IN GHANA FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 23 

Since its inception, EYTYS has taken the post-internet generation by storm with their elevated everyday essentials, from tailored outerwear to low-slung baggy jeans to statement footwear. The Swedish label’s razor-sharp instinct for trends and striking eye for visuals culminating in undeniable cult status.  

This season proves no different. Inspired by 1970s passion for Fusion and Funk, EYTYS Autumn/Winter 23 references the vibrant sounds and colours of the time while staying true to their contemporary sense of cool. Unexpected proportions and juxtaposing materials come together to create a versatile unisex collection, as worn leather jackets are paired insouciantly with trackpants and graphic baby tees are ensconced by to-the-ground coats. Elsewhere, denim emerges in bold freshness, featuring snap closure tearaway seams, all-over croc-embossed detailing and ring-pull zippers that adapt the silhouette of the flair. Throughout the collection, pops of red, flashes of true blue and moments of crisp white continue to evince an unmistakable devil-may-care bravado that enhances EYTYS’ overarching ethos to “break new ground”.

Invigorated, EYTYS looks to the lively capital of Accra and an all-Ghanian team to bring the ‘Keep dancing keep playing’ collection to life. Photographer and filmmaker David Nana Opoku Ansah captures models Rashida, Rayan and Prince styled by Etchell Dorkenoo against the backdrop of their shared hometown. The poetic quality of Ansah’s photographs immerses us in the busy streets of Jamestown and transports us to the shores of Laboma Beach.   Take a trip this autumn, as EYTYS’ daring design sensibilities are stitched together with the rich cultural tapestry of Ghana to tell a timeless story of authenticity, freedom and vulnerability.
