Detroit don Omar S continues his legacy on his ever-reliable FHXE imprint with the Annoying Mumbling Alkaholik EP. The opening cut ‘Track 1’ radiates pure beauty: riding soft new-age vibrations over a slick 808 groove with glowing rainforest synth drops all around whilst ‘Track 2’ follows in a similar vein, again showcasing a duality between raw and smooth that’s consistent with the Detroit artist’s spotless back catalogue. Finally, things turn nastier on ‘Track 3’, replacing the new-age sounds with a stripped, reverb-drenched kick drum and a tense, contorting acid chord.
