Belgian designer Raf Simons graduated in industrial design and furniture design in 1991 at Antwerp’s Royal Academy. Deciding to have a fundamental change of profession, after being encouraged to peruse fashion, he became a self-trained designer, launching his namesake menswear label in 1995. Immersed in the youth subcultures of Antwerp in the early 90s, Simons was inspired by the city’s underground fashion scene and rebellious energy of counterculture. Looking to redefine gender norms, statements about individuality are inherent to Raf Simons’ creative process. Despite a quest for innovation, elements fundamental to the brand remain intact. Modern proportions, classic construction and quality fabrics designed with the confident outsider in mind complete this season's collection of longline skirts and dresses, statement knitwear, graphic-print T-Shirts and pin-badge embellished accessories.
